
Conversational Russian for Adults
Location: Russian Orthodox Community Center at 617 Sand Creek Rd, Albany, NY
Time: Wednesday at 6:00 pm (beginners), 7:00pm (intermediate)

This introductory class is designed for those planning business or pleasure trips to Russia or individuals who just want to learn the fundamentals. The class is limited to 6 students.
Topics:

* widely used, easy to remember words * pronunciation * alphabet, sounds, how to read printed Russian * building simple vocabulary, simple questions * examples of sound changes according to stress * useful phrases in Russian * practice conversations with common situations * reading short texts loud * some instruction in grammar and writing.
Fees:
$20 per person per class. Fees are payable on a monthly basis depending how many Wednesdays are in the month.

To keep the Russian classes interesting and challenging, the materials are modified according to the child's age and level of proficiency in Russian. Each lesson includes games, puzzles and other fun activities along with the language studies.The classes are available for children from 3 to 14 years old.
Level 0: intro to Russian
Time: Saturday at 9:00 am
The lessons are designed to engage the student by addressing topics from the children’s every day life. One theme of this class is meeting new friends, so the main topics will include introducing yourself and talking about subjects common in a child’s life. The class is limited to 6 students.
Level 1: understanding spoken Russian
Time: Saturday at 10:00 am
During the class a variety of activities are offered to the children based on their skill levels. The lesson focuses on enhancing the student’s knowledge and understanding of Russian. The students increase their knowledge of basic Russian grammatical structure and conversational skills as well as become more familiar with Russia’s cultural and social traditions. The class is limited to 6 students.
Level 2: reading and writing in Russian
Time: Saturday at 10:00 am
Beginners will start by learning the Russian alphabet and advance to basic reading rules, and reading and discussing books. Study of grammar and vocabulary. Cultural exposure through reading texts. The class is limited to 6 students.
Fees: $15 per student to register in school
(one time for school year). $20 per child per class. $15 per child per
class with two classes taken. $5 off per class for 2nd child

The music class is based exclusively on Russian folklore tunes and songs, as well as the best of Soviet era and Russian classics. The classes are available for children from 3 to 14 years old.

Group music activities with a focus on singing songs are a source of great satisfaction for young children who have the natural ability to learn easily and effortlessly the essentials of rhythm and melody, dynamics and tempo etc. through singing, clapping, ear training and other joyful activities. The delight of music is strengthened while children develop basic music skills.
Fees: $15 per student to register in school
(one time for school year). $20 per child per class. $15 per child per
class with two classes taken. $5 off per class for 2nd child

The Russian Baking class is designed to provide basic skills to bake Russian and European baked desserts: stuffed breads, pancakes, cakes, pies and cookies. Instruction is provided in unstructured environment, and practical hands-on experience is used. Recipes will be distributed. This is a hands-on experience, strictly limited to a small group of 6-8 people. You will be able to share your delicious results with family and friends! After each class taste and bring home your creations.
Fee: $120 per person for 8 classes. Fee includes the cost of food, handouts and supplies. The class is filled on a first-come basis and the entire fee must be paid in advance.
